Diamond Casino Guide: So you decided that you wanna rob a casino, great! The Diamond Casino Heist is one of the best ways to earn money, but you're wondering, how do I get started? Well, you're in luck! This guide is going to teach you the ways to get the best out of the Diamond Casino Heist! Step 1: Arcade Alright to get started, you’re going to have to own an arcade. Now, it may seem better to go for the arcades on the top of the map to save yourself some cash, however, this will make all the preps much harder, as most of them take place in LS or Sandy Shores. The best arcade locations are 8-bit ($2,530,000, located in Vinewood) and Videogeddon ($1,875,000, La Mesa). When buying your arcade, none of the upgrades are necessary, as most of them are cosmetic. You’ll have to complete a quick arcade setup mission to access the basement where the diamond casino heist planning board is located. Step 1.5: Arcade Income While this isn’t related to the diamond casino heist, I thought I would put this in there. The arcade generates income based on how many games you have, going up to 5k per in-game day (48 min). The game doesn't matter, so you can just buy the cheapest one (Monkey’s Paradise, $90,000) and fill up your arcade with it. Step 2: Scope out casino After you’ve finished watching Lester scribble a big mess over the whiteboard, you’ll be able to start the casino heist. Normally, you’ll have to pay a setup cost of 25k, but since it’s your first time doing it, it’ll be free. After you’ve confirmed that you want to start the casino heist, you’ll need to finish the scope out mission. For the scope out mission, you’ll need to take a variety of pictures for Lester in order to unlock entrances for the heist. A full guide is linked here but I’ll sum up the most important ones.
Staff Lobby: This entrance is arguably the best entrance for the Silent and Sneaky approach. It gives you easy access to the control room where you can get the daily vault easily. It is also the best exit for most approaches as not many guards patrol it. The staff lobby should be around the back of the casino and should look like a white door behind some yellow bollards.
Security Tunnel: By scoping out this entrance, it gives you the ability to enter the casino as a Gruppe Sechs team for the Big Con. This entrance is the best if not one of the best approaches to the casino heist. The disguise will allow you to go straight to the vault undetected and back up, however, you will be detected when going back out of the casino on the casino access floor, so I would suggest getting some exit disguises to make your escape easier. The security tunnel should look like a big metal garage door with a security camera watching over it under the racetrack.
Sewers: The sewers allow you to burrow down right into the vault access floor giving you easy access as you are right next to the vault mantrap. The sewer exit, however, is only available in the aggressive approach.
Roof Terrace: At first glance, the roof terrace may seem like a horrible entrance/exit, however as it turns out, the roof terrace is actually a contender for one of the best aggressive exits. By taking the roof terrace, you can shoot down the guards at the racetrack while they're not being able to shoot back and then parachute down.
You’ll only need to do this mission once, and it will be completed for all future casino heists. Step 3: Vault Contents The vault contents mission is pretty easy. You’ll be given the rough location of a Duggan security guard, once you find him, you can either hack him, which can take some time but you won’t get the cops on you if you do it right, or you can kill him and grab the phone, which will save you some time but you’ll need to lose the cops before you can enter the casino. After you’ve entered the casino, you’ll need to bring out the sightseer app on your phone to find a wifi signal. After you’ve located the wifi signal, you’ll need to figure out the vault contents. Beware that you only have a limited time to do this (2 min). Since it’s probably your first time, I would recommend that you go through every camera to scope out each POI. The target will be cash since it’s your first time, which has a payout of 2.1 mil on normal. The first time will always be cash (payout of $2,115,000 on normal), but if it’s not your first time, the targets can be either cash, artwork (payout of $2,350,000 on normal) or gold (payout of $2,585,000 on normal). There is a 4th target, which is diamonds (payout of $3,257,100 on normal) however this vault content is only available for special occasions and has been removed from the vault contents. If you do the heist on hard by doing the same approach after you’ve done another one, the payout will be 10% larger. If you’ve completed all 3 approaches to the heist, you can cancel the heist which can be helpful if you’ve got a bad target. Link to this is here. Step 4: Selecting your approach Once you’ve finished the vault contents mission, you’ll be able to select your approach. There are 3 approaches to the diamond casino heist. Silent and Sneaky, The Big Con and Aggressive. For beginners, I would recommend alternating between Big Con and Aggressive, because those are the easiest ones. For Big Con, choose the Gruppe Sechs disguise for the easiest entry. Aggressive is good for newer players however it does end up in a lot of money loss. After you’ve got the gist of it, alternate to doing Silent and Sneaky in place of aggressive for a bigger payout. Step 5: Selecting your support crew After you’ve selected your approach, you’ll need to select your support crew before you can do any of the prep missions. Selecting your support crew is very simple. You’ll need a gunman to source guns, a driver to source cars, and a hacker to delay the nerve agent inside the vault. Selecting your support crew depends on the approach and target in the vault. For Big Con, SnS, any target EXCEPT for art, you’ll want the worst gunman (Karl Abolaji, take his Micro SMG on big con, heavy revolver on aggressive and on SnS the choice is up to you), the worst driver (Karim Denz, take his sentinel classic) and the best hacker available to you, for most people, this will be Paige Harris (unlocked when the Terrorbyte is purchased, gives 3:25 in the vault when undetected and 2:23 detected). For aggressive, you’ll still want to have the worst driver and best hacker, however, the gunman is up to you since you’ll be using guns a lot. I normally go with Charlie Reed (unlocked when purchasing a hangar), he takes a 7% cut (2% more than Karl) and gives you an assault SMG, however, you can get by with Karl, as every gunman gives you an SMG to go along with another weapon, which is still a perfectly fine weapon. For Big Con, SnS and the target is Art, if you and your heist partner can both hack very well, you can get by with Yohan Blair (takes a 5% cut and gives you 2:51 in the vault if you are undetected and 2:01 if you are). Step 5.5: Secret heist crew members There are 2 hidden heist crew members that can’t be unlocked by purchasing a business like most heist crew members. There 2 are Patrick McReary and Avi Schwartzman. Patrick McReary is a gunman who takes an 8% cut and gives the choice a Combat MG or an Assault Shotgun in aggressive. Avi Schwartzman is a hacker that takes a 10% cut and gives 3:30 undetected in the vault and gives 2:22 if you are detected. To unlock Patrick, he spawns as a random event around the map. He spawns in a police car that you will need to hijack. A guide is linked here. To unlock Avi, you’ll need to destroy 50 signal jammers that are located around the map. A guide is linked here. Step 6: Prep Missions Now that you’ve selected your support crew, you’ll be presented with a plethora of prep missions. Some mandatory and some optional. To complete these missions, I suggest that you use a Kuruma, Buzzard, or Oppressor Mk2 to make your life easier. In some prep missions, you will not be able to call Lester, so be prepared. All of the missions can be done solo but it makes it easier if you have a friend with you to help you out. Now onto the optional prep missions. Optional prep missions, are, as the name suggests, optional. The optional prep you should do depends on the approach. If you own a penthouse and have completed all of the missions, you will gain access to the security intel mission. It’s very easy to complete and you will only need to do it once. A nice trick is that the gauntlet actually spawns when you start the mission, not when the cutscene is triggered, so you can just shoot the driver and take the gauntlet. A guide will be linked below. Let’s start with Silent and Sneaky. For Silent and Sneaky, the optional prep missions depend on your skill level. If you’re an experienced player, you don’t need to do much, only level 2 security passes. Power drills you can do if you think you have enough time. However, if you are a very new player, I’d recommend that you do patrol routes, Duggan shipments (you only need to destroy 3 to get rid of their bulletproof helmets), level 2 security passes, emp device and infiltration suits and power drills if you think you have enough time. If you do all these, the heist should be a breeze. Going onto the Big Con, if you’re doing Gruppe Sechs, you don't need to do much. You only need to go through one door if you exit out the staff door, so you can decide if you want to do level 2 security passes or not. Patrol routes do make things easier, however are not necessary. Again, only do power drills if you think you have enough time. Make sure you do exit disguises. Noose and firefighter are exactly the same, so do firefighters since it has an easier mission. For aggressive, again, patrol routes make it easier but are never necessary. Make sure to do Duggan shipments. You can solo it, but it will be much easier with another person. If you don’t get them all you can just close the game and you’ll be able to do the mission again. Reinforced armor allows you to take more damage, so I would recommend it even if it makes you slower. Be sure to also do boring machine as it allows you to enter through the sewers. Make sure to also do level 2 security passes unless you really like hacking doors. Step 7: Finding people to play with Now that you’ve completed all your required prep missions, you need some people to play with. If you don’t have any friends to play with, I recommend checking out HeistTeams or the GTAO Discord LFG Channels to find people to play with. Make sure to have good communication between your teammates otherwise the heist will be in chaos. Step 8: Completing the heist Now that you’ve got a solid heist crew waiting to grab all of that sweet loot out of the casino’s vault, you’ll be able to start the heist. If you're doing aggressive, the plan is pretty simple, shoot your way in, grab the loot, then shoot your way out. The easiest entry for aggressive is sewers, and the easiest exit is the eastern roof terrace. If you exit through the staff lobby, you’ll get shot a ton when going over the racetrack, however, if you exit through the roof terrace, you can shoot the guys behind the stones on the racetrack then safely parachute down. For The Big Con, I’m going to assume you’re doing the Gruppe Sechs approach. By doing the Gruppe Sechs approach, you can pretty much waltz into the vault and back out of it, just be careful that this has some limitations. When going back up the stairwell/elevator to the casino access floor, the guards will have checked the vault and know it’s been robbed, so you disguise ain't gonna work anymore. I strongly suggest getting exit disguises, as they will greatly help your escape. The easiest exit for this is the staff lobby. For SnS, I’m not really going to go into too much detail here because there’s a full video linked below. What I will talk about is when to use the emp (If you did the prep mission). I recommend emp’ing when you’re at the vault access floor, allowing you to waltz into the mantrap, or when you're coming back up to the casino access floor and are in the mantrap. Be warned that if you decide to get the daily vault when you trigger the emp, the emp’s timer will run out before you can get to your exit, so plan ahead. The easiest entrance for this is the staff lobby and the easiest exit is also the staff lobby. Tips and tricks to complete the heist
If you are disguised, do not bump into any of the guards. They will detect you and start shooting.
In the control room, there is a button that you can press to open the door to the daily vault. One person has to hold the button while the other goes in and grabs the cash. This can be done with any approach.
Running and jumping is faster than just running normally, use this to your advantage while inside the vault.
Running in first person is actually faster than 3rd, so use this to your advantage when trying to knock out guards.
Don’t bother trying to escape the cops by hiding in an alley or something, either take your car into the sewers down by the LS river or take the heli that usually spawns on top of the police station. The sewers will result in you losing less money, however will be much slower. I will link both of these methods below in the useful media section.
Normally when exiting the casino from the staff lobby without any disguise, you’ll need to knock out a guard to the left of the swat fan to your right, before hugging the race track wall and then dropping down. I have found that sometimes if you run, the guard will hear you and detect you, causing you to get shot at. To prevent this, walk up to him making sure you stay out of his FOV then knock him out.
You walk much faster in the casino if you are in first person, making the vault contents mission much easier.
In prep missions, you can change any accessory (glasses, hat, ect.) to lose 1 star which is useful on missions where you can’t call Lester to remove your wanted level.
On some missions, you can lose the cops by entering your Terrorbyte/MOC/Avenger.
On some missions, you can lose the cops if you accept Lester’s apartment heist invite. This only works if you have a heist active.
In the hacking device mission where you have to infiltrate the FIB building, you walk a lot faster if you aim down sights on any gun, however, if you go into any agent’s LOS you will get detected instantly, so be careful when using this trick.
You can upgrade your getaway vehicles in the arcade by getting in them and pressing the button shown on the prompt that appears on the top left.

2020.05.05 11:22 EnGoodz❗ The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is a Jesuit Missionary Congregation
❗ The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Is a Jesuit Missionary Congregation April 23, 2019 — Devout Roman Catholic Jesuitess Temporal Coadjutor, Melinda Gates, Admits She’s Jesuit Educated in Her Catholic Book, ‘The Moment of Lift,’ Uses Jesuit Casuistry of ‘Invincible Ignorance’/‘Philosophical Sin’/‘Directing of the Conscience’ to Perform Mass Genocide, & is an Incognito Jesuitess Missionary [Citations Mine]—:
“I grew up in Dallas, Texas, in a Catholic family with four kids, a stay-at-home Mom, and an Aerospace Engineer Dad who worked on the Apollo program. … my Dad attended a Catholic school run by the Christian Brothers, and a Brother there became his mentor and kept telling him, ‘You have to go to College.’ The word of a Brother carried weight in my Dad’s house. … When my Dad came home to New Orleans for Christmas … two Dominican Nuns decided he needed a date during the holidays—Sister Mary Magdalen Lopinto, who was a mentor of my Dad’s and had given him jobs during high school, and Sister Mary Anne McSweeney, who was my Mom’s Aunt. (She was very significant in my life. I called her Auntie growing up. She taught me how to read, and I remember trying on her habit once when I was little!) The Sisters were best friends, and they were amused that my Father had recently had two girlfriends who both left him for the Convent. My Great-Aunt, Sister Mary Anne, told her friend about my Mom, who for a while had attended a Juniorate high school as a candidate for the Sisterhood. They decided she was the one for my Dad. Sister Mary Magdalen called my dad and said, ‘You don’t have any girlfriends anymore. You sent them both off to the Convent. So we’re going to send you to this house on South Genois Street, and you will meet a girl, Elaine, who’s already been to the Nunnery and come out, so you won’t lose her the way you lost the others.’ So my Dad went to South Genois Street and met my Mom. She said, ‘They called me and asked me if I would be willing to go out with this guy whom I’d never met, and I thought, Well, he can’t be too bad if Nuns are suggesting that I date him.”
“My teachers at Ursuline taught us the values of Social Justice and pushed us hard academically—but the school hadn’t conquered the gender biases that were dominant then and prominent today. To give you a picture: There was a Catholic boys high school nearby, Jesuit Dallas, and we were considered brother-sister schools. We girls went to Jesuit Dallas to take calculus and physics, and the boys came to Ursuline to take typing. … There are a number of women and men I’ve been lucky enough to meet in my life who have taught me truths that will last a lifetime—my teachers at Ursuline Academy, especially Susan Bauer and Monica Cochran; my teachers in faith and action, especially Fr. Richard Rohr and Sister Sudha Varghese …”
“I thought, ‘Wow, am I going to step publicly into something as political as family planning, with my Church and many conservatives so opposed to it?’ When Patty Stonesifer was our foundation’s CEO, she warned me, ‘Melinda, if the foundation ever steps into this space in a big way, you’re going to be at the center of the controversy because you’re Catholic. The questions will all be coming to you.”
—p. 51 …
“When I read some of these letters, a song came into my head that often comes when I’m engaged in my work—a song I heard constantly in Church as a child, attending Mass five times a week at Catholic school. It’s heartbreakingly sad, beautiful and haunting, and its refrain goes, ‘The Lord hears the cry of the poor.’ The Nuns taught us that it was the role of the faithful to respond to that cry. … the Church is the largest provider of education and medical services in the world, and this gives it great presence and impact in the lives of the poor.”
—pp. 53, 56 …
“I have met with high-ranking officials of the Church … We talked about what we could do together for the poor. They know that I understand the basis of the Church’s opposition to contraceptives, even though I don’t agree. … Obviously, though, I’ve felt the need to express my differences with the Church. … But there is a big difference between believing in family planning and taking a lead advocacy role for a cause that goes against a teaching of my Church. That is not something I was eager to do. When I was trying to decide if I should go ahead, I talked it over with my parents, with Priests and Nuns I’ve known since childhood, with some Catholic scholars, and with Bill and the kids. One of my questions was ‘Can you take actions in conflict with a teaching of the Church and still be part of the Church?’ That depends, I was told, on whether you are true to your conscience, and whether your conscience is informed by the Church. In my case, the teachings of the Catholic Church helped form my conscience and led me into this work in the first place. Faith in action to me means going to the margins of society, seeking out those who are isolated, and bringing them back in. I was putting my faith into action when I went into the field and met the women who asked me about contraceptives. So, yes, there is a Church teaching against contraceptives—but there is another Church teaching, which is love of neighbor. When a woman who wants her children to thrive asks me for contraceptives, her plea puts these two Church teachings into conflict, and my conscience tells me to support the woman’s desire to keep her children alive. To me, that aligns with Christ’s teaching to love my neighbor. Over the past decade or so, I’ve tried to get inside the mind of some of the Church’s most committed opponents of contraceptives, and I have wished they could see inside mine. I believe that if they faced an appeal from a 37-year-old mother with six children who didn’t have the health to bear and care for another child, they would find a way in their hearts to make an exception. That’s what listening does. It opens you up. It draws out your love—and love is more urgent than doctrine. So I don’t see my actions as putting me at odds with the Church; I feel I am following the higher teaching of the Church. I have felt strong support in this from Priests, Nuns, and Laypeople who’ve told me that I am on solid moral ground when I speak up for women in the developing world who need contraceptives to save their children’s lives. I welcome their guidance, and it’s reassuring to me that a huge majority of Catholic women use contraceptives and believe it’s morally acceptable to do so. I also know that ultimately moral questions are personal questions. Majorities don’t matter on issues of conscience. No matter what views others may have, I am the one who has to answer for my actions, and this is my answer.”
“One asks whether a woman may make use of means to obtain abortion. I answer, Yes, if quickening has not taken place, and the pregnancy is not dangerous. But even if there has been quickening already, it may be effected as soon as a conviction is arrived at that she must die by the birth. Under all circumstances, however, a young person who has been led astray may do so, as her honor must be to her more precious than the life of the child.”

“In January of 2004 … I made my second trip to India. It was a trip with my closest women friends, members of my Spirituality group. We wanted to visit places for prayer and meditation and see religious sites, and we also wanted to learn about the services available to the poor and play a brief role in that if we could. When we were there, staying in Calcutta, we got up in the morning before the sun rose and walked across the city to the Missionaries of Charity’s Motherhouse, where Mother Teresa started her work. At the Motherhouse, there is a Chapel where the Nuns meet for prayer every morning, so we decided, though we’re not all Catholics, that we would go to the Chapel for Mass. … In the chapel, we met people from all over the world who came to volunteer for the day in one of Mother’s homes. After Mass, we walked to the Orphanage, where we were given a tour.”
“We Are One… That’s why I was so taken by a passage in my Mom’s favorite book, ‘Life of the Beloved,’ by Henri Nouwen. Nouwen was a Catholic Priest with the mind of a genius and the heart of a Saint. He taught at Notre Dame, Harvard, and Yale but lived the last years of his life in a home for people with disabilities, where his Ministry included helping a severely disabled member with his morning routine.”

2020.04.08 05:37 ihateprunesPSA: Restrictions on leaving or entering one's place of residence now in force
As of 2359 last night, the COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) (Control Order) Regulations 2020 (the “Regulations”) are now in force – see http://www.egazette.com.sg/gazetteViewDetail.aspx?ct=sls&subscriber=0. Whilst major news local news outlets reported yesterday (see for e.g. https://www.straitstimes.com/politics/parliament-private-social-gatherings-of-any-size-no-longer-allowed-under-proposed-law?utm_source=STSmartphone&utm_medium=share&utm_term=2020-04-08+10%3A01%3A05) that the Minister will be given power under the COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) Act 2020 (the “Act”) to “restrict the movement and interactions of individuals at their place of residence”, as of the time of this post, there appear to be no reports yet that the Minister did actually promulgate such regulations last night. The crucial part of the Regulations can be found at regulation 4(2), which states that except in certain prescribed scenarios, “every individual must stay at or in, and not leave, his or her ordinary place of residence in Singapore.” The prescribed exceptions include leaving one’s ordinary place of residence to “procure any goods or services from an essential service provider or a specified school”, so this means you can still leave the house to purchase food etc. The full list of prescribed exceptions is set out at regulation 4(3). The full text of the Regulations may also be found at: https://sso.agc.gov.sg/SL/COVID19TMA2020-S254-2020?DocDate=20200407#pr4-. The penalties for a breach of the Regulations are set out at section 34(7) of the Act, which states that a person who contravenes a control order without reasonable excuse shall be liable, on conviction, to a fine not exceeding $10,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 6 months, or to both.
2019.12.17 13:56 GnuccariaCampionato Crowex Formula GTA
1o posto: 25 punti;
2o posto: 20 punti;
3o posto: 16 punti;
4o posto: 13 punti;
5o posto: 11 punti;
6o posto: 10 punti;
7o posto: 9 punti;
8o posto: 8 punti;
9o posto: 7 punti;
10o posto: 6 punti;
11o posto: 5 punti;
12o posto: 4 punti;
13o posto: 3 punti;
14o posto: 2 punti;
15o posto: 1 punto.
È severamente vietato correre in direzione opposta a quella stabilita.

The premier episode of Star Trek TNG: Encounter at Farpoint introduced Q. He became an iconic and beloved foil for Captain Picard and fan-favorite, crossing over to DS9 and VOY. What is not discussed often is his appearance in that introductory episode as the Marine captain. Much can be said from the few seconds he wore that persona. He was set up as an antagonist to Picard and humanity, but there were small elements of that uniform that have not been elaborated upon. He may have appeared as an American Marine captain, but he was, in fact, wearing ribbons of valor and giving a glimpse of his military career in the Q Continuum to Captain Picard.
Q *dressed as an Elizabeth captain: Captain, thy little centuries go by so rapidly. Perhaps thou will better understand this. *Q A flash of light and he is wearing a 20th century US military uniform, with a cigarette in his hand: Actually, the issue at stake is patriotism. You must return to your world and put an end to the commies. All it takes is a few good men. **PICARD: What? That nonsense is centuries behind us. Q: But you can't deny that you're still a dangerous, savage child race. PICARD: Most certainly I deny it. I agree we still were when humans wore costumes like that, four hundred years ago. Q: At which time you slaughtered millions in silly arguments about how to divide the resources of your little world. And four hundred years before that you were murdering each other in quarrels over tribal god-images. Since there are no indications that humans will ever change. PICARD: But even when we wore costumes like that we'd already started to make rapid progress. Q: Oh yeah? You want to review your rapid progress? Flash, and a change into a padded suit Rapid progress, to where humans learned to control their military with drugs.
The dialogue reflects the anti-Communist sentiments of the post-World War II era when patriotism was a key notion in the American conscience. Commie is a pejorative for communist used during the Cold War Era (marked roughly by the American doctrine to limit Soviet expansionism (circa 1947) to the fall of the Eastern Bloc (1989 - 1991) which, obviously happened after the episode aired. A Few Good Men is a phrase that actually dates to 1799 and was being used by the Marine Corps at the time of the original airdate (1987) in television commercials. It was not used as a recruitment slogan until the 1970s. Picard's use of the phrase "centuries behind us" is in keeping with Data's line later in the first season in TNG: The Neutral Zone when he tells the cryogenic survivors it is the year 2364; i.e., circa 1964. Q goes on to mention that 400 years earlier humanity was "murdering each other in quarrels over tribal god-images." The 1500s were marked by the Ottoman Empire Expansion in the Mediterranean, North Africa and India, the Protestant Reformation and its associate assassinations, massacres and The Eighty Years' War, the rise of the Shinto Emperor of Japan above the shogunates and his desire to conquer (primarily Buddhist) Korea and China, and European colonization and proselytization in the Americas and Japan. The "rapid progress" that Picard mentions would be the hallmarks of the latter half of the 20th Century: anti-war movements of the 1960s and 70s, environmentalism and overpopulation awareness, expansions of democracy and human rights, the ends of imperialism and colonial control, the fall of dictatorships, increased scientific knowledge and its popularization.
Q is ranked as captain by the shoulder pips and the pins on the lapels and garrison cap; he is missing the captain's insignia on the lapels of his khaki shirt. Symbolically and out of universe, Q is meeting Picard as an equal, captain to captain. Starfleet has been analogized to the Navy on many occasions; the bosun's whistle (TOS: Savage Curtain, ST: TWOK, ST: UC, TNG: Where No One Has Gone Before, Hide and Q, Lower Decks, All Good Things, DS9: 'Til Death Do Us Part, VOY: Alliances, Coda, One Small Step), touring the ship before battle (TNG: Best of Both Worlds, Part 1), dialogue such as, "Captain/Admiral on deck! (ST: Insurrection, DS9: Behind the Lines)" Worf's promotion scene (ST: Generations), Worf and Odo's "keelhauling" dialogue (DS9: Rapture, see Sources below) and O'Brien and his former captain from the Rutledge singing an Irish naval ditty "The Minstrel Boy (TNG: The Wounded)", navy protocols regarding salvage claims (DS9: The Ship) and the person in charge of the vessel being addressed as "Captain (DS9: Behind the Lines)," etc. A Marine Corps Captain is O-3 pay-grade. A Naval Captain is O-6 pay-grade and, thus, higher ranked than a Marine Captain. If Picard and Q were held to current military rank equivalence, then Q's captaincy makes him equal to an O-3 Lieutenant in the Navy, three grades subordinate to Captain Jean-Luc Picard. One cannot expect Picard to know the subtleties of 20th Century rank equivalence among the branches of the US military--indeed he inquires at his second encounter with Q, "What is this need of yours for costumes, Q? Have you no identity of your own? (TNG: Hide and Q)", and even if he did know (through studying his family history), it would not be worth the bother to mention to an omniscient-like being who threatens his ship, crew and the existence of humanity itself. Technically, Captain Picard outranks Captain Q in this scene.
Q is wearing the Alpha Service Uniform, mostly worn by Marines when reporting in, or at a formal event that is not so formal as to justify dress blues. It is the civil equivalent of a business suit and is the prescribed attire for a court martial or court appearance. Q's choice of uniform is the perfect tone for the "Trial of Humanity" and a "dressing-down", as it were, of fellow officer Captain Picard as the chosen representative of humanity. Captain Q should NOT be wearing the cap indoors; it is against protocol as well. A cap is only allowed to be worn indoors when under arms. One could argue that an omni-powerful Q is never weaponless and the garrison cap demonstrates that intimidation:
Q: Knowing humans as thou dost, Captain, wouldst thou be captured helpless by them? Now, go back or thou shalt most certainly die. [Scene Break] Picard: Captain's log, supplementary. The frozen form of Lieutenant Torres has been rushed to sickbay. The question now is the incredible power of the Q being. Do we dare oppose it?
Additionally, that uniform is a mid-1980s style and was a subtle commentary on American international policy, deriving from the image of the Iran-Contra Scandal of the same year (1987) in which Lt. Col. Oliver North, USMC, took partial responsibility for selling arms to Iran and funneling the funds to the Contras (Nicaraguan anti-communist rebels); his uniformed presence before a congressional committee filled the television news cycle that summer (he was convicted of three felonies in 1989 which were later vacated (1991)). Incidentally, making Q a Marine Colonel would have highlighted the connection to Lt. Col. Oliver North.
On Captain Q's left breast are twelve ribbons and three badges. Each has a meaning, telling Captain Q's presumed history with the US Marine Corps.
Silver Star Medal
Legion of Merit
Navy and Marine Corps Medal
Bronze Star Medal
Air Medal with three oak leaf clusters
Joint Service Commendation Medal
Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal
Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal
Purple Heart with two stars
Good Conduct Medal with three stars
Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon
Asia Pacific Medal with four stars
The US military has designated a specific order in which the ribbons are to be worn and displayed; on Q's uniform, they are not correct, which means this set of ribbons is unlikely to have been taken from an image of a living (i.e., real world) Marine's uniform. The costumers, however, were very close to correct. The Purple Heart should move from Ninth to Fifth Position and the Good Conduct and Navy Unit Commendation Medals should be switched. No Marine was found having earned all three of the top row ribbons; it would have been interesting to find a real life Marine from whom Q's uniform was copied. Given the error in decoration order and the lack of any single person having earned the Silver Star, Legion of Merit, and Navy and Marine Corps Medals, the costume design for Captain Q, USMC was not modelled from any real world person or photograph, yet was overseen by someone with some familiarity of ribbon protocol. The proper sequence for wearing these ribbons is:
Silver Star Medal
Legion of Merit
Navy and Marine Corps Medal
Bronze Star Medal
Joint Service Commendation Medal
Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal
Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal
Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon
Good Conduct Medal
Asia Pacific Medal
The American Department of Defense and various veterans' organizations strongly request and urge that any depictions of fictional or historical military personnel be accurate and follow prescribed uniform dress regulations, but there are no methods in place for enforcing such requests. There are experts available for consultation as well. It is possible the production staff chose to not be 100% correct to emphasize the socio-political statement (see Iran-Contra Scandal, above), but this might be the typical inadvertence of production staff regarding such minutiae that were not meant for detailed scrutiny. Of course this can be hand-waved as: the STU US Department of Defense does not have the same protocol for ribbon display as the real world US Armed Forces.
Ribbons represent medals of valor earned by a soldier and/or his unit. Criteria are established by their issuing authority for the design and deed for which the medal was awarded. Silver Star Medal: Navy and Marine Corps naval aviators and flight officers flying fighter aircraft, are eligible to receive the Silver Star upon becoming an ace (i.e., having five or more confirmed aerial kills) (See Asia Pacific Medal with four stars), which entails the pilot and, in multi-seat fighters, the weapons system officer or radar intercept officer, intentionally and successfully risking his life multiple times under combat conditions and emerging victorious As an officer, he was most likely to be a pilot while other flight crew (if any, depending on the aircraft) would be enlisted personnel. He should be wearing gold wings (badge) above the ribbons Legion of Merit: Awarded for exceptional service, but NOT during war. Established by an act of Congress (Public Law 671—77th Congress, Chapter 508, 2d Session) on July 20, 1942, it required approval by the President of the Unites States until such provisions were revised March 15, 1955 (Executive Order 10600). After World War II it was typically only awarded to Lieutenant Commander and above (Marine Corps only). The "pip" on the ribbon indicates Q was a commissioned officer at the time the medal was earned; Second or First Lieutenant or Captain Navy and Marine Corps Medal: Awarded for a life-threatening act of heroism in a non-combat situation Bronze Star Medal: Established by Executive Order 9419, may be awarded to any person who, while serving in any capacity in or with the Armed Forces or Coast Guard of the United States, after 6 December 1941, has distinguished, herself or himself by heroic or meritorious achievement or service, not involving participation in aerial flight Air Medal with three oak leaf clusters: Created in 1942 and awarded retroactively until September 8, 1939 for single acts of heroism or meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flight; the three clusters indicate 4 awards to Captain Q, one for each naval vessel or three aircraft confirmed destroyed, or 25 flights in which enemy fire was expected, or 100 flights in which enemy fire was NOT expected The Silver Star, above, is awarded for five or more confirmed aerial kills. The Air Medal with three clusters opens the count to as many as 14 aerial kills Oak leaf clusters were initially used to denote subsequent awards of the Air Medal. The number of additional awards were so great that the oak leaf clusters did not fit on the ribbon. As a result, the policy was changed in September 1968 to require the use of numbers to indicate subsequent awards of the Air Medal On the Air Medal, in the interval between November 22, 1989 and September 27, 2006, stars were again used to denote multiple awards. Before and after these dates, gold numeral devices were used to denote the number of Individual Air Medals, Bronze Strike/Flight numerals denote the total number of Strike/Flight awards, and the Combat "V" may be authorized (effective April 5, 1974) if earned in combat Captain Q is wearing the Air Medal with three oak leaf clusters; so his image is taken from no later than September 1968 Joint Service Commendation Medal: Awarded in the name of the Secretary of Defense to members of the Armed Forces of the United States who, after 1 January 1963, distinguished themselves by meritorious achievement or service in a joint duty capacity Captain Q of the USMC was attached to a unit from another branch of the Armed Forces, possibly the Army or Air Force, and was jointly serving two branches simultaneously and with distinction Memory Alpha, s.v., Awards of the American Military misidentified the Joint Service Commendation Medal as an International Military Award, but close inspection shows this is incorrect; the second row-right ribbon is:
Bluebird stripe, White stripe, Myrtle Green stripe, White stripe, Myrtle Green stripe, White stripe, Myrtle Green stripe, White stripe, Bluebird stripe
This matches the Joint Service Commendation Medal, not the International Medal (aka United Nations Medal) which is 9 Bluebird and 8 White stripes alternating. This error has no effect on the fact that the ribbons are in the incorrect order; the Purple Heart should still have been in the second row-middle position and the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon and Good Conduct Medal switched Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal: Established in November 1943 as the Navy Commendation Medal (renamed the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal in 1994), outside of instances of combat action, it has typically been reserved for Department Head level officers (Pay-grade O-4), senior Navy Chief Petty Officers (CPO) and Marine Corps Staff Non-Commissioned Officers (SNCO) as an "end of tour" award Captain Q, pay-grade O-3, likely earned this ribbon in combat or as a reward at the end of his tour of duty Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal: Established in 1961 as a means to recognize the contributions of junior officers and enlisted personnel who were not eligible to receive the higher Commendation Medal or the Meritorious Service Medal Purple Heart with two stars: Awarded to service members wounded or killed in action. Between December 7, 1941 – September 22, 1943), the Purple Heart was awarded both for meritorious performance of duty (replaced by the Legion of Merit). Q was wounded in combat three times (or wounded twice and killed once as he may be posthumously wearing the second star) Good Conduct Medal with three stars: The current Good Conduct Medal is issued to every active duty enlisted sailor and Marine who completes three years of honorable and faithful service since 1 January 1996. A four-year requirement applies for the award from its original establishment until then Q served 16 to less than 20 years. Given that the Joint Service Commendation Medal was never issued before 1963, and the Asia Pacific Medal was issued only for service in the Asia Pacific Theater of World War II (1941-1945), his service ran from--at minimum--terminus ante quem 1945 to terminus post quem 1963. 18 years. So his service must have been within the years 1943 to 1965 If he met the minimum age requirement of 17 (i.e., did not lie about his age), then Captain Q was born no later than 1928. If he re-enlisted after age 35, he would have requires a waiver Based on his biography, actor John de Lancie (born March 20, 1948) was 39½ years old at the time he originated Q (Episode Airdate September 28, 1987), extrapolating to the year 1967 for his Marine persona's appearance. This then supposes an enrollment year of 1947--at least 2 years too late to earn the Asia Pacific Medal, the actor's biographical age belies only an approximation Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon: Established by the Secretary of the Navy on 1944-Dec-18 to be awarded to any Navy or Marine Corps unit that has distinguished itself by outstanding heroism in action against the enemy, but not sufficient to justify the award of the Presidential Unit Citation. A unit must have performed service of a character comparable to that which would merit the award of a Silver Star Medal for heroism, or a Legion of Merit for non-combat meritorious service to an individual Asia Pacific Medal with four stars: First awarded December 7, 1941 and last awarded March 2, 1946 for campaigns in the Pacific Theater (a list of those Marine Corps campaigns is available); he was a pilot in five of these campaigns between 1943 and 1945 Q served in five Pacific campaigns of World War II
These badges represent the result of annual testing and assessment of military personnel with weaponry. Pistol Sharpshooter: Annual qualification with the service pistol, the scores range from 345–400 for expert, 305–344 for sharpshooter, and 245–304 for marksman Rifle Expert: Annual qualification with the service rifle, scores range from 305–350 for expert, 280–304 for sharpshooter, and 250–279 for marksman Bayonet Expert: Discontinued in 1968 and available in the skill level of Expert only Marines in Captain Q's era would have been trained on the Colt Model 1911 pistol which held seven rounds of .45 ACP in its single-stack magazine. The rifle would have been either the bolt-action Springfield M1903 which saw use through World War II or the semi-auto M1 Garand which officially began use in 1937; the M1 was an auto gas-operated semi-automatic.
“Every Marine is, first and foremost, a rifleman. All other conditions are secondary.” Gen. Alfred M. Gray, 29th Commandant of the Marine Corps
A rifle has been ubiquitously in a Marine's hands since the Corps formed in Philadelphia 1775 and annual training is required. Marine Corps training begins with two weeks of boot camp dedicated to rifle marksmanship and maintenance. Although the bayonet marksmanship badge has been abandoned, a Martial Arts program still trains the Marines with the use of the bayonet, just in case the gun jams or all ammunition has been dispensed in close combat situations.
Marshal of France
The other grand military uniform Q wore was that of a Marshal of France, identified by Data as "from Europe's Napoleonic era, sir. Late eighteenth, early nineteenth centuries (TNG Hide and Q)." The scene continues:
DATA: ...This is a campaign headquarters tent, his uniform is that of a French Army marshal. RIKER: And a marshal outranks even an Admiral. Q: Well, do you think I would go from a Starfleet Admiral to anything else? RIKER: Of course you wouldn't. But Napoleonic equipment on an alien planet. One so different it has twin moons? Q: Well, as you said, I'm nothing if not imaginative. And the game should reflect that.
The Real World Napoleonic Era was defined as the period between Napoleon I's coup d'état to his defeat at Waterloo (1799 to 1815) and Marshal of France was not a rank, but an award for generals (equal in rank to an admiral) with exceptional achievements. Napoleon used the title Marshal of the Empire during his reign and marked his Marshals with seven eagles on the shoulder straps and batons of the position. There was no uniform for the rank of general or Marshal, either, each leader dressing to suit his own style and demeanor. The image Q chose appears to be influenced by Jacques MacDonald, red shirt, both lacking the eagles on the shoulder straps. Clearly this challenge was defined as a game (**Q: Games? Did someone say games? And perchance for interest's sake, a deadly game? To the game. and **Q: Join me, Riker. A good game needs rules and planning. Wasn't it your own Hartley who said, nothing reveals humanity so well as the games it plays? Almost right. Actually, you reveal yourselves best in how you play). The "viscous animal things" wore British 18th Century soldier uniforms and their guns appeared to be contemporary muskets but fired energy bolts, certainly a fantastical and "imaginative" situation. This entire scenario lacks any Real World relevance and historicity. Other than saying that a Marshal outranks an Admiral in the STU, it would be a fruitless to try to derive much meaning from this persona. It was an entirely fictional scenario.
On the surface the three marksmanship medals represent tested skill with three personal types of weapons. However, it is known the Q translate their Continuum into "mortal terms" for humanity (VOY: Death Wish, The Q and the Grey). A long, barren road stretching to desert horizons as an analogue of the unchanging Q Continuum and the American Civil War as a visualization of the Q Civil War--these are symbols and manifestations for humans' puny minds to comprehend and visualize the existence of the Q. One can then see that Captain Q's marksmanship badges show the precision, skill and variety with which he can direct his will against a threat. He is not just judge, jury and prosecution, he is also the executioner. He can be precise and broad like a rifle shot, accurate and quick like a pistol round, and one-on-one like the jab and parry of a bayonet. This explanation is supported by the earlier awareness developed from Captain Q wearing his cover (cap) on the bridge (see under "Uniform" above)--his persona is wearing his hat indoors while NOT brandishing a rifle which violates the dress code of the US Armed Forces. Since a Q is always armed, not by gun or bayonet, but by the power of his will and thought, he is never weaponless and wearing his cover (cap) on the bridge is within regulation. A Q in the Armed Forces is perfectly within the dress code protocols to always wear his garrison cap. By analogy with the marksmanship badges, one can therefore presume the twelve merit ribbons must also represent Q's conflicts against mortals and other beings. If, for instance, the Asia Pacific Medal with four stars marks an American Marine officer as a pilot of five campaigns in the Asia Pacific Theater of World War II, then Captain Q was also a "pilot" in five campaigns in the Asian Pacific equivalent of the Q Continuum. Q's appearance as a Marine captain hints at a history of war and campaigns between the Q Continuum and an unnamed entity for which the appropriate event in human comprehension is the wide-open, salt-scented air of the South Pacific during World War II. Since the Department of Defense dress code regulations extend to human hat-wearing and Q weaponry, it is not unreasonable to extend other military regulations to additional aspects of his appearance such as his ribbons and badges. The Navy and Marine Corps Medal was awarded to Captain Q for a selfless act at the risk of his own life in a non-combat situation. This would not be contradicted by Mortal Q being challenged to perform a selfless act by the Q Continuum (TNG; Déjà Q). As a Q officer in service to the Q armed forces, he only had to be selfless when it came to a fellow Q in order to earn that Bronze Star; he can still be indifferent to and even demeaning to lesser creatures. His judgement and restored power by the Q was based on his ability to be selfless and empathetic to the mortal beings of the NCC-1707 and Bre'el IV. Q chose a Marine Corps veteran of the Pacific Theater of World War II as his "mortal term" for human comprehension. One can therefore expect and tentatively predict an imperial foe blitzing the Continuum, valiant dogfights over the waters of an archipelago, blockades, kamikaze, bloody battles to claim island beaches and the Q equivalents of Pearl Harbor, Iwo Jima and Hiroshima. Perhaps it was even a war on two fronts: Q-European and Q-Asian Pacific. So little detail is known about Q's past, it would be difficult to write with any certainty on the specifics of entanglements. His contentions with Guinan (TNG: Q Who?, "We've had some dealings" and "Not all the Q are alike. Some are almost respectable") and the gaseous Calamarain (TNG: Déjà Q, "If you think I tormented you in the past, my little friends, wait until you see what I do with you now") were personal and the rest of the Continuum does not appear to be involved. Although his "time of service" would have included the "Korean War (1950-1954)," nothing in his awards specifically refers to that conflict. Perhaps he was "stateside," or it is more likely there was no "Korea," that this is taking the analogy too far; not every event in the Q Continuum will be paralleled to the history of American warfare. This would explain the 1960s era medals--there meaning is what is relevant--while lacking Korean War medals. It is difficult to ascertain the boundaries and limits of the visual analogy; the imagination can run wild, but nevertheless Captain Q, USMC would have been a Q version of an American pilot with multiple campaigns, defending Q Freedom and the Continuum Way.
WORF: Those quarters are not appropriate for Admiral Colti. She outranks Admiral Veta. ODO: Well then we'll put her in H two, Veta in D nine, and Rifkin in K four. WORF: That will not do. Rifkin commands a starship. Protocol requires he be given equal quarters. ODO: But he's only a captain. WORF: It is naval tradition. ODO: So is keelhauling, but right now we should focus on accommodations.

Hey Guys, so in the video "Read more Books" Thomas talked about his accountablity sheet. (You can get his in the video description) It works perfectly fine but it just wasn't geeky enough ;) Here you can see my version: http://imgur.com/kMIvjss What it does: * Calculating the pages you have read today * Percentage of how far you have read the book * Color coded accordingly if you have finished or missed your daily goal Download it here If you have any questions read the tutorial below or leave a comment. I hope you enjoy my little modification! Good reading! Tutorial: The sheet should be pretty self-explanatory, but in case you have some issues read this through first. Day: The day will mark green, if you completed your goal of reading 25 pages a day. In case you want to change your reading goal (in GoogleSheets) mark all the days>right click>formatting>click on the first one>change =E2>=x. (x=your reading goal in pages) Date: If you want to change the date write it in B2 and drag it down from the bottom right corner. Starting Page: You only have to type this in the first time. Otherwise it will assume, you started again where you left of yesterday. In case you switched a book, change the first cell manually and it will work again. End Page: You will have to type this is manually ;) Pages Read Today: It will automatically calculate how many pages you have read today. If you completed your reading goal it will appear green, otherwise red. To change your reading goal follow these steps: Mark all the cells>right click>formatting>change the biggesmaller as according to your reading goal Book: Type in the book name and the author. You can drag it down from the bottom right corner so you will not have to write it over and over again. Total Pages: Write it how many pages this book has. You can also drag this down accordingly. Read: Here it will show you how much you have already read. Important: This only works properly if all the other cells are filled in correctly, so dont be confused if something looks odd before you filled your information in. (This is why I inserted a couple of place holding numbers, so it doesnt look as weird.) UPDATE A couple of people still use this apparently, so here is a working link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1mt7tWgwm8RXQAJzOnpZHCw77J4gOLQEsOAeulNEwBqw
2015.12.17 05:49 Laurensics[DAI Spoilers] The Trial of the Flirt- Romance five people in a single playthrough without divergent saves
Summary/Fancy TL:DR As a female Elf I managed to romance five LI’s in one playthrough, without loading/reloading. No mods were used, and at least two romance specific cutscenes were shown for each person. The general order was Solas, Josephine, Iron Bull, Sera then Cullen; Blackwall was unable to be romanced due to limitations in his romance and cutscenes. Guidelines for the Trial Okay! To make it a real challenge, I set myself some rules: -All breakups must be made in a cutscene/companion initiated dialogue -Each romance (other than Solas) must have at least two romance specific cutscenes -All the romances should also start as naturally as possible -To romance everyone I can’t load and reload (unless I messed up a plot-point) or make divergent saves -No romance mods It was hilariously tough, and I was actually surprised when it made sense for the character, who surprisingly developed into her own person. Anyway, without further ado, meet Ellie Lavellan, our beautiful heart breaker for this round. Before Champions of the Just -Get Sera and Iron Bull ASAP -Flirt and exhaust everyone's dialogue. -Make sure to do Measuring the Veil (Solas’ first personal quest) CHAMPIONS OF THE JUST-Conscript the templars Skyhold -Talk with everyone, but don't flirt with Blackwall. His first flirt option softlocks you into a relationship, preventing flirt options with Solas. -Wait to talk to Solas until after you've spoken to everyone. -Get Sera’s personal quest, but leave it until later. SOLAS -Provided you've spoken kindly to him, you should have his Return to Haven scene. -You'll have an option to kiss him. Enjoy pashing the egg. -Return to Skyhold and go to speak to him. He’ll tell you that a romance is an awful idea. Agree with him, and choose the “grey heart” option to break up. JOSEPHINE -Speak to Josephine and continue to flirt with her. After a scene on the balcony (“share your problems with me”), you should be able to leave and go back to her office to get her personal quest. Complete it using Josephine’s path. -At the end of the quest she will meet you in Val Royeaux, make sure you use the flirt option to begin the romance. -Come back to Skyhold and speak to Josie, she should tell you that Leliana wants to speak to you. Tell Leliana that you like Josephine, and don't intend to hurt her. -Go back to Josephine and ask to speak to her about what Leliana said. This will unlock the first kiss scene. -After this, exhaust Josephine's dialogue to obtain a gift quest, Heraldry from a Herald. Go to the war table and complete the operation, and then find it at Barnabus’ shop in Val Royeaux. NOTE-Any mods which alter the contents of this shop must be disabled before buying the crest. Give the gift to Josephine to get an adorable cutscene. HERE LIES THE ABYSS-Conscript the Wardens into the Inquisition. JOSEPHINE cont. -Wait to speak to the Iron Bull until the end of Josephine’s romance. -Entering Josephine's office should trigger the beginning of An Unexpected Engagement. Josephine will reveal that she has been engaged, finish the cutscene then speak to her again to trigger a war table mission to organise a duel. -At the end of the mission walk down to the main gates and meet the messenger. Travel to Val Royeaux, and duel Lord Bro-tranto. Half way through, Josephine will come in to angrily yell at you. When she asks what you were thinking, choose the option to end the relationship. -It’s not actually an awful option, and Lord Bro-tranto is there to make you feel better. (And in general look better too) -When you get back to Skyhold, talk to Josephine again. She should say “Another time, Your Worship”, indicating the relationship is finished. THE IRON BULL -Go and talk to the Bull. After a slew of cutscenes (flirt in each one and make sure to hit him with the stick!), you should be able to get a dialogue branch about Seheron. Exhaust this branch, then talk to him again to get his companion quest “Demands of the Qun”. You can finish this any way you like, I always choose to keep the Chargers alive. -Go back to Skyhold, and flirt with him at the end of the Demands of the Qun outcome cutscene. -Go and talk to Bull again, and this should trigger a cutscene where he shows up in your bedroom. -After this cutscene, go talk to him again to trigger one talking about the rules of the relationship. -Finally, talk to him again, and ask him how Qunari show their love. This will unlock a Requisition for the Necklace of the Kadan. -Make the necklace to unlock the next cutscene. -Go to Bull and tell him you have something to give him. He’ll give you something first, and Cullen, Josephine and Cassandra will walk in. Choose the breakup option (“Bull and I were just blowing off some steam.”), and then have a small conversation with Bull. I chose “We don't have to stop” but he will still break up with you. (If you look closely, you can pinpoint the exact moment his heart breaks 3) -NOTE-The break up option in this cutscene bugged out for me, so I had to go back to his room to break up with him. -You'll know the relationship is finished if you have no heart options on the dialogue wheel. SERA -Begin Sera’s romance BEFORE WEWH to get the full romance. You also need to be friends with her to romance her. -Go and speak to Sera. You should unlock the pranks cutscene. That's how I knew I was on the right track. -Now complete The Verchel March, let Sera make wine from the mans face. Go back to Skyhold to speak with her and flirt with her. -The next cutscene should be the rooftop scene. -At the conclusion of this scene EXHAUST SERA’S DIALOGUE. This is one of the biggest bugs with her romance. -Now suggest you romance each other, and she should agree. Go back to your room to get more approval. -Going back to speak to Sera should unlock a Woman Who Wants for Nothing. When speaking to the companions, say yes to Vivienne’s suggestion. At the conclusion of this quest you will get a hilarious cutscene. Provided you agreed with Vivienne you will get an extra scene. Warning-NSFW. WICKED EYES WICKED HEARTS- Any conclusion, but know that Sera will greatly disapprove of letting Celene die. To dance with Sera you need to ask her to dance before the end of the quest. SERA cont. -Speak to Sera about the events of the Winter Palace. -The next time you talk to Sera you should trigger a cutscene where you establish she loves you. Tell her you love her too. WHAT PRIDE HAD WROUGHT- Do the Elven rituals, ally with Abelas. Watch Sera's disapproval roll in. My Inquisitor decided not to drink from the Well, but she argued with Morrigan at every turn. SERA cont. -Now go back to Sera to trigger (IMO) the most heartbreaking conversation of all. When she attacks Mythal, tell her “I’m an elf- I can’t look away”. She will break up with you and it’s so sad and heartbreaking. -Go back and ask her to be friends. Feel even worse. CULLEN -Sprint to him. Mend that broken heart! -You should get cutscene after cutscene, make sure to flirt in all of them. When the cutscenes stop, you should have the option on the dialogue wheel to begin a relationship, select it. -This should bring you to the infamous rampart scene with the attention-hogging scout who should learn to knock (I think his name’s Jim?). Kiss Cullenmore, enjoy. -After this, Perseverance (Cullen’s personal quest) should trigger. It has some fantastic romance specific dialogue that I’d never seen before. -At the end of Perseverance, leave Skyhold and come back to trigger a magical trip to a dark lake, the height of Fereldan courting. Sadly there are no mabaris, but there is character development. -After this, go back to Skyhold, visit Cullen again, and test the stability of his desk. -I couldn’t trigger any further scenes, so at this point I went to kill Corypheus, and got Ellie a happy ending So why no Blackwall? Blackwall’s first natural breakup opportunity comes after both WEWH and HLTA, and you can’t trigger the romance after the first of those quests (I have no idea why other than he’s no girl’s second choice). ALSO, if you’ve began a romance with someone else and broken it off, he won’t date you. If you can after either of those things, I managed to find a bug. In the end, after trying a few different things, I decided to abandon him in favor of romancing Josephine and getting more cutscenes with Sera and Iron Bull. I hope this guide helps some people, if I’ve gotten anything wrong please tell me. :D I’ll be testing Trespasser once I’ve finished it for my canon Inquisitor. EDIT-I want to thank the others who have done multiple romances, and thank everyone for posting to this subreddit. Merry Christmas guys!
2015.10.01 18:06 accountrelGood or bad idea to buy a Blogger blog with PR and traffic?
I've been researching different niches for affiliate marketing. I was considering starting a website in a niche until I ran across a guy that blogged about the industry from 07-13 but stopped. The site has a PR4 and looks like it still gets decent traffic. It's had mentions on many major news outlets and links from tons of different sites. I even noticed he said he wanted to hand off the site to someone in a posting. Issue is... it's hosting on Blogger using a Blogspot subdomain. Do people think I should buy this blog? Is it worth much considering it's on a subdomain? The guy owns the brandname .com and forwards to the subdomain, which seems odd to me. He's a web designer and he has mapped other sites to Blogger blogs. What I'm thinking is I want to buy the domain, blogspot content, and social handles. Then transfer from hosted Blogger to self hosted Wordpress. It looks like it's possible to 301 redirect Blogger Blogspot domains. Since the permalink URLs have dates in them, and I hate dates, I'd like to 301 redirect those to cleaner URLs with just words. I'd rather start with something that has recognition rather than from scratch.... but is trying to go after this site too much work or a good idea for SEO? Would redirecting the Blogspot domain make the site loose SEO rankings? Is transferring the content and site to Wordpress easy? Has anyone done this with a Blogger or Wordpress site?
They are absolutely correct; riding a motorcycle is more dangerous than driving a car. The data we have says you're about 32-36 times more likely to be involved in a serious motorcycle accident than a car accident. The first thing we teach in the course is how to mitigate (reduce) risk.
When someone says it's dangerous, I agree. They usually ask why I still ride, and it's because it's worth it. There's risk in everything we do. It's all a matter of how much you're willing to take. Personally, the risk of riding a motorcycle is worth the rewarding experience it provides.
I've never seen any really bad accidents. We're pretty good at preparing students for what to expect and keep them from taking actions that would end up with serious injury. The worst thing I've seen is a student who treated the throttle like an on/off switch. By the second exercise (the first one you actually ride), he dumped the clutch and took off at full throttle. He was on a dual-purpose bike, rode off the range, over a curb, into the street, and finally stopped when he crashed into another curb. He was sent home. EDIT: The stupidest behavior I've seen is when students make a u-turn to change directions and the lead student doesn't leave enough time for the last student to finish their turn. They get really close to having head-on collisions before they stop.
Our bikes range from 125-250cc. The maximum the course allows is 500cc.
I don't know what beginners buy after the course, and where I live there's no limit to what they can buy. Every instructor's opinion varies on this. My opinion is to start small. Small bikes are forgiving. If you make a mistake on something with 30hp, you have time to think and correct. That mistake on something with 130hp (my bike) will put you at 100mph faster than you can fix it.
General rule of thumb: you're buying your first bike, not your last bike. It's like starting out a pilot in an F-22. Pilots start in Cessna 152s for a good reason.
That's difficult to answer. New riders need so much feedback that there's no standout one thing. Probably smooth clutch control. People like to treat the clutch like it's an on/off switch, but it's more like a dimmer that requires fine adjustment.
Sure. Basically, a clutch lever can't be treated like it only has two positions (engaged or disengaged). It's not all or nothing. It needs to be treated like it has hundreds of positions. As you release it, more power gets transmitted to the real wheel. Release a little more, a little more power. Squeeze it in, it cuts off power. Squeeze it in a little more, cuts off a little more power.
The idea is that you never want to immediately engage all power, or cut it all off. You want to smoothly apply more or less power.
Exceptions apply, like in shifting or coming to a complete stop. But the challenge is usually in starting off smoothly.
I think it was about $400 all said and done (CPR, First Aid, coach training). It was worth it. We make a lot but it's not easy work, often doing 12 hour shifts on our feet on asphalt with few breaks in between.
We're paid on a per-class set amount, but if you break it down to hourly it's between $30-40. Teaching two classes pays for the cost of getting into it.
I consider myself to be an introvert. It works out alright. The instructions on what we say, what we can say, and feedback to give students are pretty straight-forward. But if you have a deathly fear of public speaking, it's not for you.
While counter-intuitive, you should accelerate. Acceleration increases the bike's stability and causes it to stand up. Unless you mean tips too far and is no longer on the tires. At that point you're no longer in control and all you can do is hope you wore the right protective equipment.
As for your second question, our course heavily emphasizes planning ahead and having a strategy to deal with evolving situations on the road. If you're only reacting, you'll always be one step behind. You have be proactive about your safety, recognize a possible hazard, and avoid it. A good motorcyclist often turns into a great car driver because of how much situational awareness they develop.
The only tried and true advice is practice, get training, and wear proper protective gear every time.
You can use your own bike if it's street legal and under 500ccs, or use ours. Scooters are treated like motorcycles in the course with small variation. They're easier to ride since there's no shifting.
So many. To be honest, I see other coaches ride who make me question their own skills. Fine in a parking lot, but scary on the street.
Braking. You have to practice it to get better. The hardest I've ever used my brakes is while practicing in an empty parking lot, just to know how much I can apply them.
Slowing down in a turn. Not trail braking (slowing down to the apex all the way into the turn), but being on the gas in the turn, getting off, then getting back on. That's a great way to crash as you upset your suspension. If you're in the turn and not on the brakes, you better not touch them. Keith Code has a great line, "Once the throttle is applied in the turn, it should be smoothly and continuously applied throughout the turn." Don't roll off. Trust the bike.
Looking ahead, faaar ahead. Hugely applicable to safe street riding. On the same note, avoid target fixation.
I ride sportbikes, typically supersports. I would like to get into trail riding with dual purpose bikes but don't have the time.
My knowledge is limited on cruisers, but I've heard great things about the Metzler ME880s. All the Harley guys I've spoken to who came from the Dunlops swear by the Metzlers now. Great mileage, great grip. You just have to keep the tire pressure up pretty high.
I've only ridden in the US, but I believe if motorcycles were more common there'd be less accidents (as a percentage of the total). Car drivers might then actually look for motorcycles, which is one of the main reasons riders are in accidents.
Speed is another one of the big factors. We drive really fast in the US thanks to all our open space. Riding in India is insane, but rarely fatal because they hardly move. Riding in the US is pretty tame in comparison, but we have more (reported) fatal collisions due to the high speeds.
No, it's not in the curriculum. If it's brought up by a student, I'll mention it's an advanced technique and give an overview of what it is. The reality is that students who have never touched a motorcycle before have no ability to properly gauge how much they can brake in a turn, so we do our best to advise against it.
Every class has experienced riders. Part of the certification to become a coach requires re-taking the Basic course and passing. I had ridden for over 6 years and over 50k miles when I re-took it. I still learned new things.
The physics of balancing a bicycle are the same as balancing a motorcycle. It's preferred that you don't try and learn yet another detail while you're trying to learn motorcycle controls. Especially since the consequences of a mistake are greater on a motorcycle.
